2004-06-14 - 12:57 p.m. Sex and alcohol Friday, Roland awoke me with a melting and suggestive look and said Happy Tenth Anniversary. Let me tell you, anniversaries are much better than weddings. No schedules or flowers or fancy clothes or guests. No family or crazy people. No one to fuss about the color of anything, or seating arrangements or music or anything. Nothing to do but amuse ourselves. Roland can be very amusing. Hmmm. Saturday, Roland awoke me with a melting and suggesting and look and said Happy Tenth Anniversary of our honeymoon, proving men do indeed know how to milk a good thing. Okay, you can all stop gagging now. That�s the end of the overly cute and slightly salubrious part. We rented a little cottage near Charlottesville, and spent the time that Roland managed to separate me from the hammock chair on the front porch kicking around the local wineries because nothing improves a day like free alcohol. Good, free alcohol, I might add. Our particular favorite, for uniqueness and good booze, was the Hilltop Berry Farm & Winery because they made wine out of everything. Blueberries, peaches, plums, apples, raspberries, cranberries, cherries, pears, � You�ve got to like people that can turn anything into fine libations. Also, you have to like people with the sense of humor to name their blueberry wine (�Blue Heeler�) after their vineyard dog, Pumpkin, who greets all their visitors. Yes, the label has a picture of their Australian Blue Heeler. For anyone hunting a unique wine or gift, these are your guys. They even have a growing selection of �historical� based wines and meads. Their Pyment follows old Roman recipes. C�mon, Thjora. You can�t resist a wine with a puppy on the label. It�s good wine. � � �
