House and a shelf

Thanks for the magic

At last. The Great Ymir Peerage Conspiracies have all come to wonderful fruition.

My husband, who I have always considered noble above my station and beyond my deserving, has been called to direct fealty to Atlantia as a member of the Order of the Pelican.

Honey, Im sorry I wouldnt let you stop for dinner. But now do you see I had a schedule to keep?

Thanks to Genevieve and Alan and Dame Anne who dealt with everything, including my hysteria, when I fell apart during the Columbia crash. Hope that shirt is finally dry, Lan. Thanks to Cuan and P for helping get me through that. Thanks to Kyna for being.

To Thjora, who put together a warm flannel vigil tunic. To the crew who somehow got everything to site and set up. To Corbie & Thjora for loaning gear, pennant poles and their good sense to the setup, as well as the ever famous little arming tent. (Someday, were going to count how many vigils have been sat in that tent.)

To my monarchs, who did everything in Their considerable power and giant hearts to make it special and perfect, including finding us beds in the royal cabin, and convincing Roland Her Majesty insisted we stay there, giving us an excuse to be on site.

To Gen, just for being Gen.

To Lucia and Rupe for providing the only thing that made me laugh last week.

To Padraigin for fedexing the pourpoint pattern and employing her leatherworking tool known as Cuan to help make Roland a new belt. To Kyna and Rags for providing stuff, including the lovely collar.

To Calli, who was there in the dark to show us where to set our field shade Friday night. To Baroness Briana, who randomly appeared at the right moment to jump our truck after wed set up the pavilion on a dark field and run down the battery. And who was calm at me when it didnt start on the first try. In fact, she and Alejandro were wonderfully calm and welcoming all weekend.

To his squire brothers: Kevin who came despite work, and his lady Giuliana who came despite great pain, because it meant that much. Erlich, senior squire who took fealty to Thorbrandr the same day as Roland, 13 years and a few weeks ago, who appeared out of the misty past to stand his turn at guard and carry Rolands banner into court. Athalwulf, who could not do enough to help and was great aid that night, and his lady Minna, who did everything to help, most of all just being her lovely self and bringing the adorable Lauren to play with on Saturday. Misha, who made it to the vigil, despite the car crash on the way there.

To Thorbrandr, his peer, who talked me off the tower at least once in the preceding week and who persevered despite work, family, snow and great physical pain to be there for his squire.

To Kynneth, who organized guard and stood many hours in the cold and somehow made the pike stand appear from nowhere. To Rosalind and Gaston who, along with his squire brothers, took shifts at guard.

To Wyn, Rolands first Baroness, who came to the vigil and gave Roland the classic Baron Otto/Black Diamond sage advice Dont be an asshole. To Queen Eorann of Trimaris, who was our last Baroness when we resided in Black Diamond, whose courtesy favor Roland has carried for more than ten years, who came to site late in the cold to wish Roland well.

To Anne and John saved many lives with the warm drinks they passed out all night. To Anne, who made it all beautiful, who left me with lovely purple and gold linens, and a light up tiger flashlight that helped us find our socks at 3 am in a dark cabin. To Katie and Christie, who not only let their parents to these crazy things but help immensely. To Katie, for loaning the only available and functional Shelton back during cleanup.

To Susannah and Melisent just for being them. To Master Eldred, for standing in the cold to welcome and new Pelican to our Order and to Ealdthryth for bearing with.

To Kyneburh, who will pay dearly for taunting Roland and Andrew last week and who spoke so beautifully of his courtesy. To Alisandra and Kadlin, who made great preparations to convey their special love for Roland even when they couldnt be there. And to Llweylln and Kadlin, who got him out of the house and kept casting more buttons for the elevation garb. To Robert and Isabel, who brought warm welcome, good company and held the light at the right moment, just for being there.

To Cuan, Ragnarr and Lukas, who took care of us at the end, and sent us home with no worries.

To Gyrth, just being Gyrth at the right moment, to say just the right things. And Melisande, for being funny and supportive. To Countess Adelicia, who passed along my medallion, which was once hers, then Ceridwens, then Alans, then mine. Now, the poor tarnished and worn little thing, which has done hard service for Atlantia, goes to Roland.

To Colin, for his humor and for taking the pictures that will give us a permanent record of the joy.

Back to to Gen for making the screaming purple and yellow cloak, borrowing the magical embroidery machine from Kyna, and most of all presenting it with such grace. To Ragnarr for sneaking supplies all over the place, and making me laugh with the clown-shark song.

To Nia, for wearing Eeyore slippers, somehow healing cars with prayers to Buddha, and saying just the perfect thing. To Sorcha, who understood without words how oddly joyful and stressful it is to be the wife of the candidate.

To Adriana for the smiles and help (but maybe not so much for the honking Pelican toy). To Nikulai for worrying about the weather cause he just let the crazy people arranging four vigils do whatever they needed.

To Restoration Hardware for making the coolest marshmellow roasting forks on the planet. To all the people who kept putting wood on the fire in the Royal Cabin.

To makers of ThermaCare for those disposal heating pads that stick to your body under your clothing and provide 8 hours of warmth. To BdeB for being Annes personal savior.

Most of all.

To Roland, who is so wonderful we all found our effort well rewarded. And, hey, thanks for letting me hem the pourpont that short. Go me!

In the 14th century tale of Syr Percival, there is a phrase, a gentle and parfait knight. When I read that story, my mind has always pictured Syr Andrew in his place. So,

To Syr Andrew Grey, for being the epitome of a gentle and perfect knight for as long as I have had the privilege to know him, since he came running across the parking lot to introduce himself and hug this Theo person his Lady Sorcha liked. For putting his passion, courtesy, prowess and steadfast heart at the service of Atlantias Chivalry.

To Mistress Quenthryth of Laure, whose gentle and wry smile is a welcome addition to the Pelicans. With her quiet and subtle determination, she is one of those who smooths the way for those around her without us ever seeing the bumps. Thanks, Q, for helping making the magic of our Society possible.

To Syr Tacius Severian Fabius, whom I have known for many years. I have enjoyed his subtle service as marshal and fighter, always patient with new fighters, hot tempers and his wonderful family. The very solidness and heart of Tosh have always made me relax just by having him near me. Atlantias peerage is enriched by his kind eyes, warm heart, strong arm, sharp spear and quiet counsel.

Scribble to Theo
