Naming the Squirrels

Squirrels.

All we really need are squirrels.

Fuzzy, chi-ing little squirrels.

Once upon a time, Phillipa of Hainault, Edward III's Queen of England, had a beautiful churching dress covered with squirrels. (Churching dress, you ask? So there was this thing in the middle ages where women were impure after giving birth. After a set time, they were finally allowed to attend services again. For women of high rank, this was a big deal - especially if they'd just birthed a male heir. The occasion was sometimes marked by feast and tournaments, but they always, always got new clothes.) So, in July of 1330, after she'd birthed Edward of Woodstock (No relation to the rock concert), she attended services resplendent in purple velvet covered with gold squirrels.

Phillipa reigned in the 14th century.

Thjora likes the 14th century clothing.

Thjora likes vair. She has vair on her arms.

Vair represents squirrel fur.

Twelfth night is soon.

Thjora's an overachieving Laurel person.

Thus, squirrels on a dress for Thjora for 12th night..

There's a very large empty bottle of chardonnay in my sewing room. Thjora's gone to open the white zinfadel. In the background, my embroidery machine etches another gray squirrel on black velvet.

And now you know what a Laurel does on a Saturday night.

Woot! My wine glass is full again and carmel from the chocolate turtles are stuck in my teeth.

So, here's our concept - and Gen

is here so she can share the blame -

We auction off the right to name the squirrels on Thjora's dress for a Kingdom fundraiser.

Say chi and make her an offer.

Name suggestions cheerful accepted in either guestbook.

No, none of them will be saliciously placed nor cupping anything - we're not that tipsy.

Olive and egg penguins? Are you serious? That just can't be right.
